1.5 c black tea
1 small handful rasperries
3 leaves basil
1 small handful spinach leaves
1/2 cucumber - peeled and sliced for easier blending
3 ice cubes
I had every intention of going to the grocery store today to get something cool like rhubarb, or something, and making an unusual and exotic smoothie. But after an afternoon of gardening, and setting up the back patio for summer, all I wanted to do was sit, relax, and enjoy a smoothie on the patio. Fortunately, I had been brewing sun tea while doing all my yard work, so I thought, "Well, what goes with black tea?" Raspberries, of course! Then, a couple of leaves of basil fell from the plant on the kitchen windowsill, right before my eyes, and I thought, "And basil goes well with raspberries!"
This smoothie is so refreshing, a little frothy, and really cool-looking. I put a few ice cubes in, just because there wasn't much filler, and I was afraid the texture wouldn't be right. I feel quite strongly that I made the correct decision there; this smoothie is exactly right.
